Analytics news: February 2026
Analytics insights on the Home page
Unfortunately, February brought only one update: AI-generated insights based on the data GA has collected since your last visit.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about the quality of these comments, since they don't take context into account. Still, it's only a matter of time before the quality improves. When it does, this feature will be extremely helpful, because it will show you right away what to pay attention to.

Buttons let you rate the quality of the insights, and the algorithm will surely use that feedback.
Google Tag Manager
Automatic events in Google Ads
The February 4 Google tag update enabled sending automatic events directly to Google Ads.
The tag should automatically detect the same events that were previously sent to GA4, namely:
- Clicks: on outbound links, phone numbers and email addresses.
- Forms: form start and form submission.
- Video: video start, progress and completion (YouTube).
- Files: document downloads (pdf, docx, etc.).
- Scroll: page scrolling (usually 90%).
And user data (if you've accepted the terms):
- Hashed (encrypted) email addresses or phone numbers detected in forms (as part of Enhanced Conversions / User-Provided Data).
You choose what gets sent in the Google tag settings, which for Google Ads means in the Google Ads interface.
Looker Studio
As usual, Looker Studio had the most going on, but these are the most important new features for the Standard (free) version
Export a chart as an image
You can now download a single chart or visualization as an image file (e.g. PNG) directly from the chart's context menu.
Link to a specific element
You can now generate a link that goes straight to a selected chart or table in a report, instead of only to the whole page. This makes it easier to point colleagues to specific data.
