Analytics news: February 2025

Google Analytics 4

This is probably the quietest month for updates since Google Analytics 4 launched. We really only had one new feature, on February 3.

Changes to cost data import

The number of required fields used as join keys in cost data import has changed. From now on, only these are required:

• source
• medium
• date

You can still use the campaign and campaign ID fields, but they're now optional.

There were ways around this requirement before, but I think the change will make day-to-day work much easier, e.g. when importing SEO costs.

Looker Studio

Not much happened here either, but there was one interesting update

Sorting tables by multiple columns

Report viewers can now sort table data by multiple columns. Just hold Shift and click the columns you want to sort by, one after another

For yet another month, nothing happened in GTM.
